About The Studio

Founded in 2011 by European and Canadian educated Lucyna Mach,  The Studio is focussed on high quality, custom residential design.  

Projects include new residences, renovations, additions to existing homes, small retail spaces as well as cottages, cabanas, coach houses and accessory structures. The Studio proudly specializes in accessibility design.

Lucyna answers the Proust Questionnaire

What is your favourite occupation? 

"I was fortunate enough to know I wanted to be an architect when I was twelve. I was lucky again years later when after I graduated from Carleton University at the depth of a recession that I was hired by one of the best custom residential architects in Toronto (Gordon Ridgely); apparently he hired me because he liked my postal code and the fact that I was “fully vaccinated”. I had a great mentor at Gordon’s who taught me most things I know about designing."

On what occasions do you lie? 

"When being honest could not possibly serve any good purpose."

What is your greatest fear? 

"Mice. Dead or alive."

Which living person do you most despise? 

"Vladimir Putin."

What is your biggest regret? 

"Why bother?"


What do you consider the most overrated virtue? 

"Modesty."

Which words or phrases do you most overuse? 

“Why don’t you use the magic of sight?”

What is your greatest extravagance? 

"Footwear."

What do you most value in your friends? 

"Loyalty and sense of humour. They also all happen to be smart and goodlooking (the last thing- total fluke)."

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself? 

"Impatience."

What is the trait you most deplore in others? 

"Bigotry."
